“The Dwelling” has two scenes, day and night. During the day it reflects the outside surrounding and during the night it reveals what’s inside. This piece is a collaboration among Christina Coleman, Jieun Beth, and Sara Madandar. These three artists reflect their shared experiences with Elisabet Ney, a prominent Austin sculptor from the 19th century. Inside the structure, the artists incorporated their own artistic ideas and sensibilities in the installation. The installation speaks to themes such as the idea of home, the duality between vulnerability and the formidable, the female body and the cultural heritage.
